Recently, I shared a post on how anyone can use their BlackBerry device as Modems. From my research I learnt that our MTN BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) cannot be use for pinging, chatting and for other BlackBerry services alone. I learnt that it can be use to browse and download unlimitedly on computers without any limitation. When I found this, I was happy because at least this will save me from some expenses a bit.

Today, I want to share with you the method to use your MTN BIS with your computer. This method will save you from subscribing on your Modem and BB at the same time. The softwares we are going to use for these are UltraSurf, FreeGate and Hotspot Shield. Though there are many softwares we can use for this stuff but am going to be updating the post with new softwares as I continue with my research. Below is a simple explanation on how to use and get the software.
How to Use Your MTN BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) on Your Computer
#1. You must first subscribe to the MTN BIS. This can be done by sending BBC to 21600 (#1,500 / Month) or BBC WEEK to 21600(#500 / Week) through text.#2. After that a subscription confirmatory message will be sent to you, then connect your BB with your computer or Insert your Sim card into your Modem.
#3. You need to create a new connection profile on your BlackBerry Desktop Manager or Modem using the following:
Access Point: blackberry.netAfter proper configuration, then connect.
Username: web
Password: web
HOW TO USE MTN BIS TO BROWSE ON YOUR PC USING SPOTFLUX ()
1. Download Spotflux Here for Free. [13.51MB]2. Install after Downloading, Its 100% Free from Virus.
3. You will be Ask to Choose Firefox as your Default Browser, That's the Only Browser Supported.
4. Now Configure your Modem with the Settings Below:-
Name:- MTN
Apn:- blackberry.net
Username & Password:- Leave it Blank
5. Doubleclick the SpotFlux Icon on your PC Desktop, Its already Enabled immediately you Open it. Just Open your Browser and Start Surfing.
- No need of registration
- No upgrading
- No monthly charges
- No need of buying vpn software to use with MTN BIS anymore.
- No need of PDproxy or SandwichVPN anymore.
- The software has no setting ,just download and start using it.
How to Use BIS on PC with PD proxy ()
1. Go to www.pdproxy.com to register a new account and download PD proxy software (it’s free)2. As a free registered member, you will be limited to 3 GB of data monthly while premium member is unlimited. Though you can upgrade to a premium member but you will have to pay for their cheap and affordable plans of 1 month or 3 months or 6 months.
3. With PD proxy software, free users also enjoy the same internet speed premium users enjoy.

How to Use BIS Directly on Computer without Any Software (Not Working Presently)
If you wish to use MTN & other network BIS on your PC directly without any software, you just need to add some DNS to you settings. Below are some DNS you can use:Primary DNS: 31.31.78.164,
Secondary DNS: 178.170.117.25,
Primary DNS: 67.138.54.100
Secondary DNS: 207.225.209.66
Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220
Primary DNS: 68.87.74.162
Secondary DNS: 68.87.68.162
With the above DNS settings, you will be connected to the internet faster and easier without using any software.
How to Use FreeGate with MTN BIS (Not Working Presently)
1. Download freegate software from HERE2. After downloading the software, then launch it and wait for it to connect automatically
3. After a successful connection, then configure your browser manually to work with:
Http and Https Proxy: 127.0.0.1 and Port: 8580. If done properly you should be connected to the internet. That’s all.
How to Use UltraSurf with MTN BIS (Not Working Presently)
1. Download freegate software from HERE2. After downloading the software, then extract and launch it and wait for it to connect automatically
3. After a successful connection, then configure your browser manually to work with:
Http and Https Proxy: 127.0.0.1 and Port: 9666. If done properly you should be connected to the internet. That’s all.
How to Use Hotspot Shield with MTN BIS (Not Working Presently)
1. Download the software from HERE.2. After downloading, install it on your PC.
3. Connect your modem to the internet and then launch the software.
4. Wait for it to connect and start browsing. But the most embarrassing problem is that Hotspot shield always show ads. But you can learn How to Remove Annoying Hotspot Shield Ads.
NB --- You can also use other phones incase you don't have BlackBerry.

@Ejiroghene Precious, I have earlier said that other network BIS data are limited, likewise GLO. So if you use them with your computer, they will stop working once you consume all your allotted data.

@legend, you can use glo also but the reason why MTN was emphasized upon was because it is unlimited.

@Odun, Freegate stop working some days ago, but you can make us of ultrasurf or Hotspotshield.

@ejohnb, you have to use direct network connection whenever you're using hotspot shield. Yes you can make use of nokia phone asvlong as you have the necessary tools to get it connected.
Woodwork, I tried it 2days ago with a blackberry using mtn and ultrasurf, and it worked well, even though I had problems downloading from RapidShare when I used gorilla, but since that time, it never connects to server anymore, I download hotspot shield as well, but neither works anymore, pls what could be problem, thanks.

@Anonymous, the MTN blackberry package still work very well and you can use any device that can send SMS to subscribe to the plan without a blackberry phone.
Thanks Admin I Tried the direct connection and it worked. That is after Freegate started misbehaving. However the Direct connection is a bit slower from my observation.

@odun, You can do that when creating a new connection on your modem by clicking on the advance mode.
Pls, i am using a GLO MODEM with an MTN SIM, i subscribed for one month, and the DNS settings is not working, freegate works sometimes and other times it doesn't work, ultra surf and hotspot shield are not working at all, what should i do?....

Good day. I'm in south africa and tried both the direct connection and via blackberry desktop software. Both shows there is a connection,but when I connect to the internet it shows error, page could not be found. Please help
Can anyone please clarify where you are to put the DNS addresses when using Blackberry Desktop Software because there isn't anything like advanced settings. Ultrasurf has stopped connecting.

@Jack, I'm not in South Africa so I don't know about their connection. But try and use some of the DNS stated in this post.
@Anonymous, go to network connections on your computer and right click on the connection you're using, then select property and go to the networking option then select IPv4 and click on properties. You can now insert your DNS manually in the required space.
admin those dns ain't working for me, when last did you use yours, mine stopped five days ago, and, which of the bb plan are you using, bbc N1500 or bis N3000 I did bbc N1500

mtn bis is blazing wit pd-proxy,google the site,register a free acct(100mb daily),download d pd-proxy n install on pc.open d software,change udp to icm,enta ur username n password u created(after activating it from your mail)and click connect.u can create as many acct as u like.sucoloko

i am not able to connect to the PD-Proxy, it is telling tunnel successfully terminated, i tried switching between ICPM, TCP and UDP, non is working yet my bb subscription is on. can you guys please help with comprehensive configuration settings, also, does my browser needs any configuration?

Hello I tried PD proxy, registered, activated it through my mail, downloaded the software, but it doesn't connect on demo server and I tried other servers on the software, notin.....pls is der something am doin wrong
@Sucoloko, make sure the Pd-proxy software is extracted and run from the drive. This method has been tested and it's working.
@Bayo, the stuff might not be connecting due to network problem, you can try and reconnect it later in the day.

thanks admin its working but i noticed something and i want to confirm if its just my side here or general.once pdproxy connects now,it open another "unknown connection" under the network and sharing center(am using win 7) and also its very slow in browsing irrespective of time but fast with idm...any solution to these will be greatly appreciated.note am using ICMP protocol.sucoloko
@Joel Cooper, it depends on the network your are using. For example, if you are using MTN Nigeria BB BIS on your BB and PC, you will be allotted unlimited bandwidth.
@Sucoloko, Am now using airtel BIS, though it is limited, but it doesn't require any software to power it. Some friends of mine that uses MTN BIS told me that it work faster at midnight and early in the morning.

@Sucoloko, with airtel bis, you don't need any software, it connects directly. It total bandwidth is 1Gb

Because I once used the 1GB data limit that comes with Airtel's BIS on my unlocked Glo modem to browse successfuly, I assume it would work the same with the 3GB that comes with the Glo CoMonth BIS plan which I have just subscribed but isn't working. I have used the following APNs: glosecure, gloflat, glowap, Glo3gvideo with their appropriate username and password. Admin, I seriously need your assistance. Am I to insert 'blackberry.net' somewhere? I have heard about some who have used their Glo BIS data limit to surf. What should I do?
@taflo, Airtel BIS is working on PC and any hand held devices without any software.
@YAS, I don't think Glo BIS works like Airtel. Perhaps it doesn't work, try using some tunneling software with it.

Ay admin I don't seem to get all this, BIS in South Africa is only R60, what's the 1500 for?, and I'm currently subcribed to it.using a Bold 9700 everytime I try to connect, it automatically removes my BIS(temporarily)then it fails. But then I found a solution to that, I switch off my network on the phone,switch it back on nd as soon as it connects to MTN 3G without showing the next to it, I connect with the pc and it connects succesfuly but as soon as I try to browse, the browser doesnt read any connections.

I am using a blackberry 9900 (bold torch) & would like to know how i can make my pc browse using the Mobile Hotspot feature on my phone... The pc should be able to connect to my blackberry's BIS. But when I connect it tells me 'no internet access'

@ all, presently MTN BIS is not working with PC but Airtel BIS does with N1,400 you can get 1gb of data and it works without any software.

@Anonymous, the last time I used MTN, SPOTFLUX was working. MTN is presently bad in my area of residence, so I now use GLO and Airtel. Both networks does not require any software to work.
@Kayode, I don't really know much about MAC, but i will advice you to try AIRTEL BB bundle on it, am very sure it will work.
