Download Firefox 21.0 - Features Inclusive

Mozilla Inc. recently releases the much awaited Firefox 21.0. This new version of Firefox will provide more privacy, swiftness to the users through its new features. It is an awesome browser every internet users will love to have on their computer for more advanced browsing. It comes with Do-Not-Track improvements, initial work on the FIrefox Health Report, CSS improvements, graphics-related performance improvements, remote profiling support for developers, and HTML5 support of the "main" element tag and scoped stylesheets. Below are the new features imbedded in the Firefox 21.0.

Features of Firefox 21

1. Firefox Health Report:

The feature - Health Report collects information on how the browser 21.0 is performing. This feature can be checked anytime by the user to gauge the performance of the browser in real time. The data gathered by this feature will also if the browser is doing fine in its start-up time or if that is affected by its own health or not.

This feature can be enabled by going through the “Options” tab in the menu bar, and then clicking on “Advanced” – “Data Choices”.

There is another add-on tool in this category – “about:addons-memory”. This add-on allows you to track how much memory is being used up by the add-ons you have installed with your browser.

2. More Networks In Firefox Social:

Firefox has one of the best social API’s for users to connect to the social media world (although the worst part was that it had only support for Facebook). The new API in Firefox 21 has done away with this problem by introducing support for more social networks, such as Cliqz, Mixi, MSNNow, but here again they have taken a critical hit by not including Twitter.

In terms feature and interface, Firefox 21 is a welcome change and update from Mozilla. It has also pleased developers by including certain features, specifically for them, such as API libraries, HTML5 support for 2 new elements, and so on. I will suggest you give it a try once, especially to feel the advantage of Health Report feature.

3. Undo Remove Thumbnail From Firefox Speed Dial:

The speed dial functionality was introduced in the Firefox with Firefox 13, but was not much a pleaser. With Firefox 21.0, this feature has seen quite a bit of improvement. It helps you to load back a thumbnail, if removed accidently from the speed dial (this was pretty much missing in earlier Firefox versions, considering how important it is now to work with various thumbnails).

Before you proceed, check:

4. Do Not Track:

This is the most impressive and useful feature that we have found in the Firefox 21. This feature has been in the Firefox production from a while back, but the manufacturer has increased its efficiency in the 21.0 version by including three different options to it for managing/asking the websites to “track” or “do not track” you. The three options include:
• To track you
• To not track you
• Hide tracking preferences altogether

5. Remote Targets Profiling:

This feature is specifically developed keeping in mind the functionality and input of the developers. It allows the developers to connect desktop browser to the various devices which runs on either Firefox OS or Firefox Mobile, and then inspect them on their own separate developer tools window.

The developers can enable this feature by going to – about:config, and then set “true” the value of devtools.debugger.remote enabled, and then restart the browser. Then for connecting devices, go to “Web Developer” tool, then – “Connect”. Connect your device along with this procedure and you are through. This helps the developers to profile their Firefox-based devices remotely.

6. Advanced Startup Time:

Firefox has added a new functionality under which it will itself notify the user of speeding up the start-up time, if it thinks that the browser is taking too long to start. This feature will allow the browser to suggest needful changes to the user to improve its start-up time.

It uses the data from the last five sessions to gauge the start-up time and decide on the start-up pattern based on that. If there is no prompting, then it is doing just fine.

How to Edit PDF Files in Microsoft Word 2013

Recently, I was searching for a research work online, so I found a journal in PDF format , and I wish to edit it, to add and remove some text from the journal, but with the help of the latest Microsoft Office 2013, I was able to make all necessary changes and then save it back to PDF.

Edit PDFs with Word 2013

Today, many people are also out there, who wish they could edit a PDF file and then save it back. I received series of mails yesterday regarding how to edit PDF documents (free) without using those expensive utilities out there, after I published “How to Convert PDF Document to any Image formats.” In the past time, editing of PDF files require Adobe Acrobat X pro or some other costly utilities. PDF has been difficult to edit because it’s just technically an image file, so converting it back to text requires some sophisticated OCR.

As I’ve explained earlier, I was able to edit my PDF journal with the latest Microsoft Office 2013 without any hassle, as Word 2013 brings new features to the word-processing sphere, but it most outstanding feature is its ability to open and edit PDF files the same manner as if you were opening a .doc or .docx file.

The 2010 version of Word only provides the option to save a document as PDF, which I have used in recent times, but the Word 2013 is excellent. So I will implore those who are still using the earlier version of Microsoft Office to upgrade to enjoy the new features embedded in Microsoft Office 2013.

How to Edit and Save PDF with Word 2013

1. Launch Word 2013, click File >> Open, and then go to the directory where the PDF you want to edit lies.

2. Click the PDF, and the click Open.

3. From Word 2013, you can now make all the necessary alteration you wish to make, so when you are done, click on File >> Save As, and then save the document back as a PDF or any format you wish to save it to from the list of documents formats provided on the list.

Note that in the process of converting the PDF to an editable format in Word 2013, some formatting may be lost, as this depends on the document.

Can you see that that this feature alone is worth upgrading from an earlier version of Microsoft to it latest version ’13. If you’ve also found another tool that can also do this job better than Word ’13, don’t hesitate to share it via the comments below.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 Now Available for Download

Microsoft has recently announced the release of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7, and it is now available for download in 95 different languages. Users will be auto-upgraded to IE 10 in a few weeks, but those who are interested can go ahead and download the recently updated browser now. The new browser is available for Windows 7 users with 32-bit and 64-bit.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7

The surface of IE 10 looks like its predecessor IE9 on Windows 7. On Windows 7 devices, the IE 10 internet bar sat at the top, rather than on Windows 8 devices that sat at the bottom. So users who are familiar with the previous version of Internet Explorer would not find it difficult to use the new browser.

All IE 10 improvements are not visible to users, but the new browser comes with a lot of improvements: it makes webpage load faster, run smoother and provides users with more privacy. In a blog post by Microsoft, it promises the new IE 10 on Windows 7 “improves performance across the board with faster page loading, faster interactivity, and faster JavaScript performance, while reducing CPU usage and improving battery life on mobile PCs.” IE 10 also improves the hardware accelerated performance of various HTML constructs, and of JavaScript, where it provides faster floating point operations, faster object and property access, and more.

Before you proceed, check:

The new browser offers better support for more Web standards like HTML 5, the new CSS3 and Do Not Track (DNT) — this protects user’s privacy, so advertisers will not be able to keep tabs on your surfing habit unless you grant them permission. The DNT feature is enabled by default.

Finally, the most important feature of Internet Explorer 10 has over its predecessor Internet Explorer 9 is that it is faster that it. According to Microsoft, the new browser improved JavaScript performance and other technical changes has make IE 10 20 percent faster that IE 9.

As earlier said, IE10 for Windows 7 is available. Interested users can wait till it appears in Windows Update, or can download it directly from the Internet Explorer Website.

Windows 8 Upgrading Tips

Before you download Windows 8, check that you have created a Windows 7 installation disc and that you have backed up all your programs and data (which Windows 7 makes easy). Upgrades sometimes go wrong and after trying Windows 8 you may decide you don't like it: it's important to have a backup.

Should I Upgrade my Current Operating System to Windows 8?

If you fancy the new Windows 8 operating system, you can try it out on your PC. You won’t lose much for the upgrading, though you will lose the start menu but there are other compensations attached.

The compensations are:

1. You get access to thousands of new tablet-style apps from the Windows Store, many of them free.

2. You get a more efficient version of Windows 7, which starts up quicker, runs faster and provides better battery life. Any PC that runs Windows 7 should run Windows 8 even better.

3. The new user interface guidelines don't just apply to Windows 8 but also to Windows Phone, online applications such as SkyDrive and websites such as MSN.com

Modern Windows 8 Metro-style interfaces are replacing old fashioned ones, where digital objects look like physical objects. I recommend that you set up a new email address at Outlook.com (the replacement for Hotmail/Live Mail) and use that as your Windows Identity for logging on to Windows 8. Outlook.com also provides access to SkyDrive, the free online Office apps (Word, Excel etc) are nicer than Gmail and the Google equivalents and SkyDrive isn't far off Dropbox. You can drag and drop files into it and SkyDrive apps will automatically synchronise your files across PCs and Macs.

The main disadvantage is that the new start screen is designed for "touch first" operation, which you have not got. As it turns out, it is not that hard to use Windows 8 without a touch-sensitive screen but it may take you a few days to get used to it. The mouse still works and you can still find things just by typing a few characters, as in Windows 7. The Windows keyboard shortcuts are also useful.

Several companies offer utilities to bypass the start screen and take you straight to the desktop, making Windows 8 work like Windows 7. However, you lose the benefit of the "glanceable" live tiles, which keep updating you with information in a way that dumb 1970s-style icons cannot. (People have tried to do the same sort of thing by replacing icons with widgets but widgets haven't taken off.) You might also lose the benefits of new apps. Windows apps are limited in volume and quality but it's very early days…

Finally, Microsoft says it is "all in" on Windows 8. It comes with Bing apps, Xbox music and movies, and works well with Skype. It downloads apps from the Windows store and these are "sandboxed" for greater reliability and security. It integrates with SkyDrive, and the free SkyDrive versions of the Microsoft Office apps such as Word and Excel. For business users, it works with Office 365 (which includes Lync and SharePoint) and Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service.

In sum, Microsoft is well on the way to delivering an integrated system in which everything just works. This has been a long-term project that surfaced under software architect Ray Ozzie's slogan: "Three screens and a cloud." The three screens are the PC, the mobile phone and the TV (via the Xbox 360). Have a look at Xbox SmartGlass to see a bit more of the unfolding vision.

Windows 7 is an excellent operating system but Windows 8 is the start of a new ecosystem in which Microsoft combines its software, services and devices so that everything works better together. At least, that's the idea. Windows 8 is a lot more than an operating system upgrade and that's a good reason for giving it a try.
